Studies in Progress
The first arm of the Indiana Health Study is targeting coronary artery disease (CAD), a condition involving narrowing of the arteries that supply blood to the heart. Blood samples and information are now being collected from people in Central Indiana that have had treatment for blocked arteries. Blood samples and information are also being collected from healthy people without blocked arteries. Our goal is to enroll a total of 1,500 people in the CAD study, 750 in each group.
The second arm of the Indiana Health Study is targeting type 2 diabetes. Blood and urine samples as well as information are now being collected from people with type 2 diabetes. Biological samples and information are also being collected from healthy people without type 2 diabetes. Our goal for this study is to enroll a total of 1,000 people, 500 people in each group.
Both the CAD and type 2 diabetes studies are prospective longitudinal studies meaning that follow up of study participants is intended to continue indefinitely.
